About MCM

Building a Future for Orphans. Since 2007, Malawi Children’s Mission has served orphaned and vulnerable children in Malawi, Africa.

History

In 2007, Steven Koffman and Sean Robinson founded MCM to address the growing crisis faced by orphaned and vulnerable children in Malawi. Partnering with local organizations and the Malawian Ministry of Social Affairs, MCM was established in the Lirangwe region of Southern Malawi, where the need was greatest.

Mission

For many orphans, life is about survival. But we believe they deserve more. Our mission is to provide an environment where children can grow, discover their potential, and build a future, empowering them to make a lasting impact in their communities.

Vision

We envision a future where the orphans we serve shape the future of Malawi. Every child has a unique path, and we empower them to become leaders who carry MCM’s mission forward, transforming their communities and creating lasting change.

Path to Transformation

Our approach begins with Good Works, building Good Will, and creating the opportunity to share Good News, reminding orphans that they have value and a purpose.

Good Works

We serve those in need, meeting them where they are and providing support where it matters most. Through compassion and action, we create a lasting impact in the lives of the children and communities we serve.

Good Will

We build trust and foster collaboration, creating strong relationships that empower communities and drive lasting change.

Good News

We’re passionate about and champion the truth that Malawi’s orphans have value and a purpose, empowering them to realize their potential and make a meaningful impact in their communities.

Quality of Life Services

We believe Quality of Life services will have a long term impact. So, our approach to service is simple. We create opportunities for children to thrive and to have a positive impact in their communities. We serve in 6 key areas:

Nutrition

MCM sources high quality produce from local farms. We also grow fresh vegetables and maize on site to ensure consistent supply. Each meal is designed to be full of protein and nutrients children need to develop physically and mentally.

Healthcare

MCM has installed a medical room on-site to offer minor medical services. From scraped knees to disease detection, this facility offers a first level response to illnesses that all children face.

Well-Being

Malawi’s orphans suffer from tremendous psychological and emotional stress. Our staff takes time to learn about each child’s past. We discover how best to address emotional and psychological issues.

Education

MCM’s preschool prepares the youngest orphans to start learning early and ensures early brain development. Pre-schoolers begin to read, memorize, develop dexterity, count, and even to speak English.

Lifeskills

MCM empowers young women and men to successfully face the disadvantages that are the norm for most vulnerable young people Malawi. We focus on building life skills and self-respect through mentorship and character development.

Spiritual Guidance

MCM is intent on instilling confidence, inner stability, and regard for others in each child. Consequently, Biblical teaching is part of the core subject matter for all MCM Academy students, as well as weekly assemblies for all ages, and one-to-one mentorship.
